(T-1847) Climate Threats to Urban Landscapes in the Las Vegas Valley – Initial Findings

Description
: The Las Vegas Valley is one of the hottest, driest places on earth, and with the effects of climate change, it will likely only get hotter. It is important to consider how these projected changes may influence our urban landscapes (and the water they consume), and begin to develop strategies to adjust. We are attempting to determine how our commonly planted urban species may react, and consider how we should respond if some of them are lost. This presentation discusses the initial findings of our assessment of potential impacts to Southern Nevada's urban landscape from rising ambient temperatures due to climate change.
